Post Exclusive: North Korea presented U.S. with $2 million bill for care of comatose American Otto Warmbier, two people familiar with invoice say

The invoice was handed to State Department envoy Joseph Yun hours before the University of Virginia student was flown out of Pyongyang in June 2017, two people familiar with the matter told The Post. Yun signed a document pledging to pay, a decision that was authorized by President Trump, the two people say — but it remains unclear whether the money was ever transferred to Kim Jong Un's regime. Warmbier fell into a coma after he was sentenced to 15 years in prison in March 2016 on charges stemming from allegedly pulling down a propaganda poster. He died six days after returning to his home in Ohio.
